We had the pleasure of sitting down with Brilly Semenova, a self advocate and graduate of Penn State. We touched on many great topics from when parents should let their kids know their neurodivergent to outdated autism symbols and language. She also shares how she helps families coast to coast with educational rights, transitional services and adult transitional living opportunities. Brilly really is a FORCE!
We are an autism family. For us, when we first got the diagnosis, there was a bombardment of not just feelings and life adjustments but also the many tons of information; we were overwhelmed! In that same breath, we also had to weed through every phone call, every dr. visit, every therapy session, and school to find out who and what was helping our son the best and who we may need to see down the road as he grows up and becomes an adult. Even through all of this, we noticed there were gaps with information. The tools, resources, the transitional services that not everyone knew or knows about and the really great people making a really BIG difference in the world of ASD and disabilities. Shining a spotlight on adult self-advocates that are doing amazing things and paving a brighter future of acceptance, diversity in education and inclusion in the workforce for my child and other children. Life with the Spectrum hopes to help you by providing an entertaining valuable show for families and professionals who live and love someone with Super Powers!
